Holiday Bows Party - December 2006

Twas The Night Before Christmas

(CUF Neighborhoods Style)

Twas the night before Chistmas, and all through the Heights
Not a block captain was stirring, no trash stood their might
Red bows of the season hung on the trees with care
With the joy of positive energy that was now living there
Rob & Jeff were nestled, all in good stead
Visions of cosmopolitans and air-popcorn danced in their heads
Golden Dustpan winners Cindy & Daniel, all snug in their caps
Were humming “Let it Be” as they prepared for their nap
When out on lower Victor there arose such a clatter
Jim & Dorothy grabbed their ‘gitters to see what was the matter
Away up to Warner, they ran out with Lola
Saved by University Beth, shouting out “hola”
An energetic neighbor, lively and quick did she play
They knew in a moment, it must be... St. PJ!
Out on her Chickasaw beat, and reporting graffiti
She whistled, and shouted, and named the streets like a treaty
Now Wheeling, now Victor, now Emming and Warner
On Stratford, on Ada, on Volkert and Klotter
To the top of Sauer, Parker, and West Holl’
Trash away! Trash away! Trash away all!
As fast food wrappers before the block captains fly
When we meet an obstacle, we reach for the sky
All along the streets, kind the night filled – with light
Gorillas be praised, sewed the gardens with might
In a twinkling Ginny & Andy nudged their baby awake
Coaching her in the way of our world, “You Have What it Takes”
Sally and Toyia on Warner and Sharon on Coy Street
Agreed “six minutes a day – now THAT will be sweet!”
Über-Tracy came out, with her newly-won cookies
Having cleaned up the budget, now playing hookie
Bill & Eileen joined in, spinning Wheeler ‘round and ‘round
With coffee and cool carpentry, positive energy abounds
Janell with her boat and Julie her myrrh
Put up their bows, decorated the Parker holiday fir
Joseph and Laura doubled Emming and Stratford
To their sleigh team turned, whistled - and soared
Super block Captains Suz and Bob, with cycles and monkeys
Mixed blowers and banana bread, and boy was it funky
Cathy and Jason, warm and grooving on Sauer
Kept the cobblestones pristine, with Marin’s super powers
Kim on East Emming and Michelle on Ada appeared
With looks of determination, swore “no broken windows here”
The BearCATs studied and roared, Daniel's driven not to settle
Good and getting better, ready to test their mettle
At the end of the day, we united hands, chorus'd voices in the night
Happy holidays one and all – and may all our days be bright!
